Ok well after my night owl experience a few nights ago I have been making up for lost sleep with lots of afternoon kips :)
Today I am feeling about 85% and think I am getting better everyday. No pain pills at all to speak of today either (which I think is great!) and am definitely moving alot easier (I was able to sleep on my side last night!) as well as being able to do more things (like mop the floor!)
The clock hits about 2.30pm - 3.00pm in the afternoon, and its time for my nano nap. The kids have been great and I have been able to veg out on the lounge watching ABC kids with them, whilst I get in my rest.
I also had a call from my surgeon "Mr Kierath" filling me in about what type of liquids I should be having for the next two weeks - his words are - "anything you can suck up through a straw!" So I can finally add creamy soups to my list of foods to eat (thankyou god!) Clear soups and broths were getting a bit tiresome to say the least! He also touched on the fact that protein was important, and if I needed to "thin" any soups down, milk was a good option - and there you have it.
Yesterday was my day for my weekly weigh in - so here are my particulars...
Week One - Weigh In
Banded Date: 3rd April (8 days banded today)
Pre-Op Weight: 105kg
Todays Weight: 100kg
Total Lost: 5kg in 8 days!
You could have knocked me over with a feather! I thought that it would take a couple of weeks for me to lose the 5 kilos as I set that mark as my first goal. I do realize however, that the weight I lose on the liquid stage of my newly banded life - is just a bonus. The lapband doesnt actually work on liquids as they slip right past the band offering you no type of restriction at all. Apparently after 2 - 3 weeks of liquids you move up to pureed "mushy" foods for a week or two, and then to solids.
The progression from mushies to solids sees you putting some of the weight back on apparently, as your body is probably in panic mode and will grab any extra calories and store them as fat!
On a quick note - Silly me didnt even think to do any measurements before banding, so I did them yesterday as well, and will include that in my weekly update from here.
On a stitchy note - I started my pinkeep for SBEBB today, and Im loving stitching once more!
I am still on part three for Mystery X from Chatelaine designs and havent added anything to Watergarden or my Feather Fairy either! *bad me!*
It was so lovely to stitch today, it felt like normalcy had returned to the household you know!
Hey Rava, I have a friend who had the same surgery a year ago and she says it was the best thing she has ever done for herself.
I hope your recovery continues to go well.
I'm glad you are feeling well enough to stitch I'd love to see your WIP of Mystery X (I'm teetering on the edge of caving on that one.)
